Emirhan Yorulmazlar

Dr. Yorulmazlar is a senior member of the Turkish Foreign Service and until recently served as the Consul General of Turkey in London. He is currently the Head of Economic Section for bilateral relations with Russia and Central European countries at the Turkish Foreign Service. He is also a Foreign Policy Institute (FPI) Fellow at the Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Washington D.C.

 

In his previous overseas appointments, he was Political Counselor at the Turkish Embassy in Washington (2011-2014) and served respectively as Third and Second Secretary in Tehran (2005-2009).

 

He was a Foreign Service Resident Fellow at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs (WCFIA), Harvard University (2011-2012).

 

He previously served in Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Ahmet Davutoglu's office in his capacity respectively as the Deputy Chief of the Cabinet and Deputy Special Advisor. During his military service he was seconded to the Ministry of Defense as Second Lieutenant, and worked as a Project Officer at the General Policy Planning Directorate.

 

Mr. Yorulmazlar received a double major with top ranking at Bogazici University in History and Political Science & IR. He got an Msc in European Politics and Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2000 as a Chevening Scholar of the British Council.

 

He completed his PhD in Bogazici University and written his dissertation on "Ideas and Turkish foreign policy.” He is an academic practitioner with expertise and wide ranging writings on Turkish foreign policy, Iran, Middle East, U.S. foreign policy, and shifting international balances. He has been published in top US think-tanks in Washington DC and renowned academic journals.
