Dr. Harry G. Broadman is the Director of GEEM. Dr. Broadman, who is also a Senior Fellow at Johns Hopkins’ Foreign Policy Institute, is CEO of Proa Global Partners LLC, a boutique international business strategy consultancy, which focuses on investment transactions in emerging markets. Broadman is also a monthly columnist for Forbes magazine.

Zbigniew Brzezinski

Senior Fellow

Dr. Brzezinski is a Counselor and trustee at the Center for Strategic and International Studies; trustee of the Trilateral Commission; and former national security adviser to President Jimmy Carter.

Gregory Chin

Senior Fellow

Dr. Gregory Chin is Associate Professor of Political Economy at York University, Canada. As a Non-Resident Senior Fellow of FPI, he is co-leading the Project on “Emerging Global Governance” with FPI Executive Director Carla Freeman, a joint initiative with the journal Global Policy. When visiting Johns Hopkins SAIS (Washington DC), he will also conduct research on China’s evolving relations with the global multilateral institutions.

Deepti Choubey

Senior Fellow

Deepti Choubey was appointed a Senior Fellow at SAIS’ Foreign Policy Institute in October 2014. Previously, she was Senior Director for Nuclear and Bio-Security at the Nuclear Threat Initiative, Deputy Director of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace’s Nuclear Policy Program, and Director of the Peace and Security Initiative. She is a nuclear policy expert with a track record of delivering real world outcomes reducing nuclear dangers. Choubey has an MIA in International Security Policy from Columbia University and an BA in Government from Harvard.

Cinnamon Dornsife ('77)

A senior executive, negotiator and advocate with 30 years' experience in international banking, economic development and foreign policy; served as interim director of the International Development Program at SAIS from 2010 to 2012; was U.S. executive director and ambassador to the Asian Development Bank and alternate executive director.

Fadi Elsalameen

Fellow

Fadi Elsalameen is a political commentator, op-ed writer, and public speaker on Arab-Israeli affairs. He was an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the American Security Project, a Washington, DC think tank that has been created to develop an American national security vision and strategy for the 21st century.

Ludovico Feoli

Senior Fellow

Ludovico Feoli is the director of the Center for Inter-American Policy and Research (CIPR) and a Research Associate Professor in the Stone Center for Latin American Studies and the Department of Political Science at Tulane University. His research interests include the political economy of market reforms in Latin America, institutions and institutional change, and the quality of governance. He is currently the executive director of the Centro de Investigación y Adiestramiento Político Administrativo, CIAPA, in San José, Costa Rica.

Francis Fukuyama

Francis Fukuyama was previously Director of the International Development program at SAIS and is currently a Senior Fellow at the FPI. He is also currently Olivier Nomellini Senior Fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI), resident in FSI's Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law.

Bo Kong is the ConocoPhillips Petroleum Professor of Chinese and Asian Studies and Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma’s College of International Studies. He is also Senior Fellow of the Foreign Policy Institute of the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Senior Associate in the Energy and National Security Program of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), member of the Advisory Board for the Revenue Watch Institute, member of the International Editorial Board for the Universiti of Kebangsaan Malaysia’ journal—JEBAT: Malaysian Journal of History, Politics, and Strategic Studies, and member of the ChinaFAQs Expert Group.

John Lipsky

John Lipsky is a Senior Fellow of the Foreign Policy Institute of Johns Hopkins SAIS. Before joining SAIS, he served as First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund from 2006-2011.

Daniel Magraw

Professor Magraw was President and Chief Executive Officer of CIEL from January 2002 to September 2010. From 1992-2001, he was Director of the International Environmental Law Office at the U.S. EPA.

James Mann

James Mann is a Washington-based author who has written a series of award-winning books about American foreign policy and about China. He is a former newspaper reporter, foreign correspondent and columnist who wrote for more than twenty years for the Los Angeles Times.

Souad Mekhennet

Souad Mekhennet, a reporter who has been covering radical Islamic movements since shortly after Sept. 11, is a visiting fellow at the Weatherhead Center at Harvard University and a Fellow at the School for Advanced and International Studied (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University.

Afshin Molavi ('97)

Senior Fellow

Afshin Molavi is a fellow at the Johns Hopkins Foreign Policy Institute, where he writes broadly on emerging markets, particularly on themes related to 'The New Silk Road,' South-South trade, global hub cities, new emerging market multinationals, global aviation, the geopolitics of energy, and the intersection of Middle East states and the global economy. Molavi recently published an FPI white paper entitled 'The Pivotal Partnership,' outlining UAE-Africa ties as an emerging new geo-commercial and geo-economic corridor.

Azar Nafisi

Azar Nafisi is best known as the author of the national bestseller Reading Lolita in Tehran: A Memoir in Books, which electrified its readers with a compassionate and often harrowing portrait of the Islamic revolution in Iran and how it affected one university professor and her students.

Amir Pasic ('87)

Amir Pasic is vice president of international operations at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). In this role, he provides strategic leadership for CASE regional offices in London, Singapore, Mexico City, and oversees CASE activities in Africa and other areas outside of the United States.

Dr. Alan Platt is a Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Institute of the Johns Hopkins Nitze School of Advanced International Studies where he lectures on U.S. foreign and national security policy. He also consults on these subjects and serves on four non-profit boards.

Jeffrey Pryce

Jeffrey Pryce is a Professorial Lecturer at Johns Hopkins SAIS and nonresident Fellow in its Foreign Policy Institute, where he focuses on International Security, Law and Diplomacy. He has high-level experience in all three branches of government and repesenting the United States in major bilateral and multilateral diplomatic negotiations, with a particular focus on international security.

Robert Ricigliano

Robert Ricigliano is a systems and complexity coach at The Omidyar Group where he supports and guides teams within organizations and initiatives in efforts to better understand and effectively engage with dynamic systems. The systems practice at The Omidyar Group is built on Robert’s pioneering work using systems and complexity tools in peacebuilding and social change. This foundational work is captured in his recently published book, Making Peace Last: a systemic approach to sustainable peacebuilding (2012).

David Satter

David Satter is a fellow of the Foreign Policy Institute at SAIS. He is also a senior fellow of the Hudson Institute and the Foreign Policy Research Institute in Philadelphia and is serving as an adviser to Radio Liberty. A former Moscow correspondent of the Financial Times of London (1976-82), he has written on Russia and the former Soviet Union for more than three decades.

Randa Slim

Randa Slim is Director of the Track II Dialogues initiative at The Middle East Institute and an adjunct research fellow at the New America Foundation. A former vice president of the International Institute for Sustained Dialogue, Slim has been a senior program advisor at the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, a guest scholar at the United States Institute of Peace, and a program officer at the Kettering Foundation.

Shirin Tahir-Kheli

Shirin Tahir-Kheli was named by Newsweek in 2011 as one of the "150 women Who Shake the World". She specializes in South Asia, Nuclear Non-Proliferation, United Nations and U.S. Foreign Policy, Women's Empowerment.

Dominic Tierney

Dominic Tierney is associate professor of political science at Swarthmore College, a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, and a correspondent at The Atlantic. He completed his PhD in international politics at Oxford University, and was a post-doctoral fellow at the Mershon Center at Ohio State University, the Olin Institute at Harvard University, and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.

Emirhan Yorulmazlar

Dr. Yorulmazlar is a senior member of the Turkish Foreign Service and until recently served as the Consul General of Turkey in London. He is a former Harvard University WCFIA Fellow (2011-2012); Deputy Chief of Staff and Political Advisor of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey; diplomat at Turkish Embassy in Tehran (2005-2009) and Washington DC (2011-2014); Ph.D. Bogazici University and MSc London School of Economics (LSE); works on Turkish foreign policy, Iran, the Middle East and shifting balances in international relations.

Maureen White

Maureen White is a Senior Fellow at The Foreign Policy Institute. She was the Senior Advisor on Humanitarian Issues in the Office of the Special Representation to Afghanistan and Pakistan in the U.S. Department of State from 2009-2013 and is an expert on the refugee crisis in the Middle East.
